Mackenzie is being built by a small team on purpose, and it is a stacked one: decades running the best private clubs in the country, a founder who has built a company from scratch before, and people who remember your name and your usual order. This is who you will see around.

Dave Rogenmoser
Dave founded Jasper, the AI startup that became a unicorn, and then went looking for a golf club that felt the way a great company does: sharp, warm, and allergic to pretense. He could not find one, so he is building it. A late convert to golf who only got good once he stopped keeping score in his head, he now makes an annual pilgrimage to Bandon, Pinehurst, and Sand Valley, and has been a member at Driftwood Golf & Ranch Club since 2022. Mackenzie is the club he wished existed, built the way he builds companies: fast, obsessive, and with the best people he can find.

Casey Paulson
Other golf pros call Casey Super Pro, because every club he touches turns to gold. Nearly twenty-five years with Discovery Land Company. Project President at Driftwood Golf & Ranch Club, which he took from raw land to a Tom Fazio course, a thriving community, and more than $600 million in real estate sales. Co-founder of Bluejack National, the first Tiger Woods design in the country and Golf Digest's Best New Course of 2016. Class A PGA Professional, 2014 Northern Texas PGA Professional of the Year, and a scratch golfer. If you want to know how a real club is supposed to feel, ask the man who has built five of them.

Blake Beeker
Blake runs member experience, which means the details you notice and the hundred you never will. She comes to Mackenzie from Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana, where the standard for taking care of people is about as high as it gets, and before that from Driftwood Golf & Ranch Club here in Austin. She is newer to golf than the rest of the team and plans to fix that in the TrackMan Suites the moment they switch on. Ask her how the grind is going.

Matt Johnson
Matt is the person most likely to have already played a round with you. He came to Mackenzie from Escalante Golf, the group behind private clubs across the country, and now spends his weeks meeting prospective members the right way: intro calls, golf outings, site tours, and the occasional long lunch. He carries an 8.3 index and a suspiciously good short game.
Membership Director
Tyler Gauntt
Tyler leads membership, and the job fits him. He spent his career in commercial real estate brokerage, where every deal is earned one relationship at a time, and he walked into Mackenzie with a list of Austin golfers he already wanted to introduce to the club. Tour the club with him and you will come away knowing the people in it, not just the building. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Jordyn, has a baby daughter, Sofia, and the three of them are members of Austin Ridge. Weekends are for hosting friends around a home-cooked meal, mixing the cocktails himself, and following UT sports with unreasonable loyalty. He plays to a 2.5 and is chasing scratch.
Chris Hull
Chris is a longtime entrepreneur who has built and backed a string of successful companies, Jasper among them, and he backed Mackenzie before there was a lease, a design, or a single rendering. A Driftwood member who plays to a 3.5, he owns nearly every putter and training aid ever made and has opinions about all of them, so the TrackMan Suites will have at least one member who has already tried everything. Ask him what is in the bag. Budget some time.

Three legends of
Austin golf
Brent Buckman, Dale Morgan, and Joe Beck have spent their careers shaping the great clubs of Austin: Driftwood, Austin Country Club, Austin Golf Club, and the programs, pro shops, and players that came up under them. Two are in the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. All three have put their names behind Mackenzie, and they are helping us build it.

Texas Golf Hall of Fame, Class of 2024
Brent has shaped Austin golf for more than four decades, from Onion Creek to the early years of Barton Creek and Spanish Oaks to Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club today. He captained Texas to back-to-back NCAA titles alongside his roommate Ben Crenshaw, played in the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship, and more than twenty PGA professionals came up under him.

Texas Golf Hall of Fame, Class of 2026
Dale built the modern golf program at Austin Country Club over nearly thirty years, taking over as Head Professional from Tinsley Penick in 1995 and leading it as Director of Golf through the club's years hosting the WGC Dell Match Play. Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2021, and now a District Director on the PGA of America's national board.

A TCU golfer turned Austin PGA professional whose career has run through Austin Golf Club, the Coore and Crenshaw course in Spicewood, Joe is as close to the soul of Austin golf as anyone: a friend of Ben Crenshaw since the early 1980s, a Hannon Cup captain, and a steady hand in the effort to save and restore Lions Municipal.
